The Crane

Children's Peace Monument
The city of Hiroshima-a city that was burned to the ground-has risen.  And adopted Peace as its mission.

Hundreds of thousands of paper cranes surround the Children's Monument.

I did not see the explanation of this statue-I just liked it.
Peace.  Love.  Understanding.  Remembrance.  Respect.  Tolerance.  Forgiveness.

These are some words that begin to describe my feelings while experiencing Hiroshima’s Peace Park.  But words can only reach so far into the realm of emotions.

The symbol of peace, in the form of a crane, is ubiquitous throughout the park.  The people have adopted the paper crane as their symbol.  Thousands of paper cranes adorn many of the monuments.

These are only a few of the many monuments and dedications in the park.

More to come...

  1. Great pictures! That first one looks like a kid trying to fly with a giant origami crane.
